How the puzzles work

Each puzzle comes from a real game. The opponent's last move is played for you, then it is your turn: find the best move, and keep going until the line is finished. Any checkmate counts, even if it differs from the stored solution.

Solve a puzzle without hints for a point and a longer streak. Your puzzle rating goes up when you solve harder puzzles and down when you miss, so it settles near your real level. Everything is saved in this browser only.

The 2800 puzzles come from the free Lichess puzzle database, where thousands of players have rated each one.
